PETALING JAYA:

Selangor police have launched an internal probe into two officers over alleged misconduct in an investigation into an unlicensed moneylending syndicate.

State police chief Shazeli Kahar said the investigation was opened after a preliminary inquiry found elements of misconduct in how the officers handled a complainant.

“The complainant’s report was lodged under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act and the main investigation is ongoing.

“However, the initial probe confirmed misconduct by the personnel involved. At my instruction, disciplinary proceedings have begun,” he told a press conference here today.

Shazeli said police would not tolerate any breach of integrity and warned that firm action would be taken if the allegations are proven to be true.
