
The government will make use of e-hailing companies’ system records to prevent drivers providing on-demand ride services from misusing subsidised RON95 petrol.
Finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said this was among the measures Putrajaya would introduce to ensure that those requiring more than 300 litres of RON95 a month, including e-hailing drivers, do not misuse their privilege.
He also said that the government would work closely with e-hailing companies to confirm that drivers on their platforms are genuinely eligible, Bernama reported.
“If eligibility is confirmed, they can apply with their company’s support. We can verify the use (of RON95) through e-hailing system records to ensure that the fuel is genuinely used for work.
