
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has referred the initial findings of its probe into an alleged claim by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin on the RON95 subsidy to the deputy public prosecutor.
In a statement, the internet regulator however said it was still probing the matter.
“We reviewed the content, which has since gone viral, along with the social media platform,” it said, referring to TikTok.
“However, we are still waiting for further information from TikTok to complete the investigation.”
MCMC’s statement comes two days after Muhyiddin urged the commission to reveal whether it had completed its investigation, saying it had been three weeks since the probe was initiated.
“Why is MCMC taking so long (to probe the matter)?” he said at Bersatu’s general assembly over the weekend.
