PETALING JAYA:

A video showing a fireman climbing a ladder up to the first floor of a shophouse to remove a Jalur Gemilang flag hung upside down in Batu Caves, Selangor, has gone viral.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said it received a call about the incident involving a shoe shop at about 10.20am on Saturday.

“A fire and rescue personnel climbed up, took down the flag, and handed it over to the police,” the department said in a statement today.

The 30-second video also showed several police officers monitoring the operation.

Gombak police chief Noor Ariffin Nasir said they have recorded statements from the shop owner and other persons involved, and that an investigation has been completed.

This is the latest incident of national and state flags being displayed upside down.
