PETALING JAYA:

The home ministry is preparing a letter of acceptance for the procurement of two offshore patrol vessels by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) under a new contractor, after the original contractor failed to complete the project.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment of the new contractor was approved by the finance ministry in a letter dated Aug 15.

“The home ministry is now preparing the letter of acceptance before the company starts work,” he said in a parliamentary reply to Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut), who asked for updates on the stalled project.

It was previously reported that the government had terminated its contract with THHE Destini Bhd after only one of the three OPVs was handed over to MMEA.
