
The local production of chicken eggs is now exceeding domestic demand, according to the agriculture and food security ministry.
It said the supply of chicken eggs was now sufficient and stable, and that the industry would regularly review and adjust open market retail prices based on current production data following the restructuring of egg subsidies effective Aug 1.
“This price adjustment process is part of the open market mechanism, but it does not affect the assurance of egg supply for consumers,” the ministry said in a statement on Facebook today.
The ministry said surveys found that Grade A, B and C egg supplies remained stable and available in supermarkets, while affordable special grade eggs were also being supplied in reasonable quantities.
