No plans to limit sale of RON95 to once a day, ministry clarifies

Each Malaysian is entitled to 300 litres of subsidised RON95 petrol per month, although e-hailing services are exempted from this limit.
PETALING JAYA:

The finance ministry has clarified that it has no plans to limit the purchase of the subsidised RON95 fuel to once a day.

In a statement, the ministry said it was looking into measures to prevent the abuse of the subsidy to ensure that the needs of Malaysians were met.

“Limiting the purchase to once a day is not in line with this aim.”

The ministry was responding to several incorrect news reports that the government was restricting the sale of RON95.

The price of RON95 petrol will be lowered from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre for the public effective Sept 30 under the Budi Madani RON95 programme.

Citizens aged 16 and above with an active driving licence are eligible for the subsidised rate, with verification done via MyKad, the same mechanism used for the distribution of Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid.
