PETALING JAYA:

National para long jump champion Abdul Latif Romly carved out another historic milestone after breaking his own world record at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India, today.

According to the championships’ official website, Latif cleared 7.67m in the men’s F20 long jump event on his third attempt, clinching the gold medal and surpassing his previous world record of 7.64m set at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Saudi Arabia’s Hassan Dawshi claimed silver with a 7.36m effort, while Matvei Iakushev, competing as a neutral paralympic athlete (NPA), took bronze with a 7.22m jump, Bernama reported.

Latif, 28, said he was satisfied with his performance as he managed to break two records – the world record and the championship record (7.61m) – in New Delhi.
