Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government’s long-standing promise to reduce petrol prices has finally been realised after addressing the country’s heavy debts, widespread corruption, financial leakages, and massive losses.

Anwar said the initiative delivers on a key pledge by PKR and Pakatan Harapan, while ensuring that the public benefit directly from reforms in the country’s administration, Bernama reported.

He said the move to provide 300 litres of RON95 petrol per month at RM1.99 per litre for all Malaysians aged 16 and above with valid driving licences is the result of improved governance and sound financial management.
