
PKR has received Umno’s protest note over the defection of Tengku Zafrul Aziz to the party, its president Anwar Ibrahim said today.
“We have received it,” Anwar, the finance minister, said at the ministry’s monthly assembly here.
“I will check with the party’s secretary-general on the status,” he added, referring to Fuziah Salleh.
Last week, Umno said it would send a protest note to the leaders of parties in the unity government who were planning to welcome its members into their fold.
Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the protest note was a “stern warning” to the other components in the unity government.
The note followed Tengku Zafrul’s confirmation that his application to join PKR had been accepted two weeks earlier.
